No, Star Wars Zero Company is not multiplayer and does not include online co-op, local co-op, or player-versus-player modes. EA and the major platform stores present it as a single-player turn-based tactical campaign. Your squad contains AI-controlled story and custom Operators, but one player commands all of them.

Is there online co-op?

There is no listed online co-op campaign. A friend cannot join a mission as a second Operator, take control of a companion, or maintain a separate commander inside your save. Online account or launcher requirements on PC do not convert a single-player product into an online co-op game.

This answer applies to the launch version checked on August 29, 2026. EA could announce a future mode, but no official roadmap source currently promises one. Treat videos or forum wish lists as community ideas unless the publisher names a feature and release plan.

Is there local or split-screen co-op?

Zero Company does not advertise couch co-op, split-screen, or a two-controller tactical mode. The interface, campaign choices, and squad turn are designed for one player to manage. Passing a controller between people can be a personal house rule, but it is not supported co-op with separate profiles or characters.

Screen sharing through Steam Remote Play, PlayStation Share Screen, or console streaming also does not add a second in-game player slot. Those tools can let another person watch or remotely handle the same controls. Progress still belongs to the single active campaign and account.

Is there a PvP mode?

There is no competitive PvP mode where two players deploy opposing squads. Enemy forces are controlled by the game as part of campaign missions, and class balance is tuned around those encounters rather than an esports ladder. The stores do not list online PvP, ranked play, or cross-platform competition.

This means there is no multiplayer meta, matchmaking population, or seasonal rank to consider before purchasing. Build advice can focus on mission objectives and AI behavior. A strong campaign class would not automatically be fair in PvP even if a future mode were ever explored.

What the single-player campaign includes

Single-player does not mean controlling only one character. You deploy a squad of Operators, spend each character's Action Points, coordinate assists, build shared Advantage, and use abilities in the order you choose. Authored companions and custom recruits provide the variety that another human-controlled squad member might provide in a co-op game.

Between missions, you manage The Den, visit Operators, heal Injuries, review Bonds, equip weapons, and choose Operations on the Holotable. Intel, Influence, limited mission windows, and optional Permadeath create campaign consequences. Every strategic and tactical decision remains under one player's control.

Can friends share tactical decisions?

People in the same room can discuss moves, assign informal responsibility for Operators, or vote on campaign choices. Because the combat is turn-based, this can be more comfortable than trying to share a real-time action game. However, the game does not record separate players, protect ownership of individual Operators, or prevent one controller user from changing the whole plan.

Streaming a play session to friends can create a similar collaborative experience. Be aware of platform streaming delays and avoid exposing account information while broadcasting store or settings screens. If shared progress and simultaneous input are essential, Zero Company is not the right purchase on that requirement alone.

Why the game works as a solo tactics title

The campaign centers on Hawks as the commander of a company whose relationships affect combat options. Bonds, companion conversations, Focus, and Cross Training are tied to a coherent roster and save state. One player can make long-term choices without needing a co-op partner to be online for every mission.

Turn-based encounters also reward pausing to inspect enemy positions and coordinate the entire squad's AP. The system assumes the commander can reorder actions across multiple Operators to create assists and Advantage. Splitting ownership could be fun, but it would require interface and save rules that are not in the released feature list.

Does multiplayer affect achievements or completion?

No multiplayer participation is required to complete the campaign. Steam identifies the product as single-player and lists achievements for the game's own progression. There are no advertised online-lobby or co-op partner achievements in the launch feature set.

That makes the title accessible to players who prefer not to depend on servers or matchmaking for tactical progression. Store DRM, account authentication, cloud saves, and update delivery are separate technical issues. They may use online services without making any mission a multiplayer activity.

Is there cross-play or cross-progression?

Cross-play does not apply because there is no multiplayer mode connecting squads on different platforms. The official feature lists also do not advertise a shared cross-platform campaign save. Buying on PC and console should therefore be treated as purchasing separate platform licenses with separate progression unless a store explicitly says otherwise.

Cloud saves can synchronize progress within one platform ecosystem, such as between supported PCs using the same store account. That service is not the same as transferring a Steam campaign to PlayStation or Xbox. Check the platform's current cloud-save label before relying on it as the only copy of a long campaign.

Could multiplayer be added later?

It is technically possible for a developer to expand a game after launch, but there is no current official promise of multiplayer. Building co-op or PvP would involve synchronization, UI, balance, matchmaking or invitations, disconnection handling, and save ownership. It should not be assumed from a patch number or vague reference to online services.

Buy the game for the single-player campaign that exists now. If a future official announcement changes the feature set, this page will name the mode, supported platforms, and release status separately. Rumors and feature requests will not be rewritten as confirmation.

Official feature confirmation

The single-player status is shown on the Steam store page, official EA page, and platform product listings. These sources do not list co-op or PvP for the release reviewed on August 29, 2026. Players specifically seeking squad co-op should therefore choose another game unless EA publishes a new official mode.
